Garden Cinema Room in Isleworth

Project Details

Our client in Isleworth, West London had an existing timber summer house that was reaching the end of its life and wasn’t suitable for the den and cinema room they wanted to have at the bottom of their garden. We designed a bespoke building for them as the site was quite confined and we were able to make the most of the space they had by building up to their boundaries. They also wanted a small attached store room to the right hand side that we were able to integrate into the design.

Challenges and Solutions

Because the client wanted to maximise the space they had available we had to get very close to the boundaries. We have a system to allow us to go close to the boundary that requires the walls to be fire resistant and involves a particular external cladding and a fire check plasterboard lining internally. Something we use quite regularly to maximise the size of our garden building where space is at a premium. Another part of our bespoke service. The integrated store room is accessed from the front of the building and the client didn’t want to see the door. We refer to these doors as our secret doors as we manufacture them ourselves to match whatever cladding is used on the main building.

This installation took nine days from start to finish including removal of the old building. It was made slightly more difficult because everything had to go through the house as it is a terraced property with no access to the sides or rear. The client had a very high quality polished wooden floor throughout the house which had to be fully protected during the works.
